Self-Harm Awareness: Non-Suicidal Self-Injury (NSSI)

Self-harm is when someone deliberately hurts themselves as a way to cope with overwhelming emotions. It can be a sign of deeper issues and a predictor for suicidal ideation. Common self-harm behaviors include cutting, burning, or scratching, but many other forms exist. If you know someone engaging in self-harm, encourage them to talk to a trusted adult and seek professional help.
